As White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany described this afternoon, the media has falsely described President Trump as “silent” in the face of the protests.
Among other examples, the Washington Post’s Phillip Rucker falsely tweeted, “As cities burned, Trump stayed silent,” the Associated Press misleadingly wrote President Trump has “made little effort to unify the country,” and ABC News falsely accused the President of “days of silence.”

My latest on the president cloistered out of view with nothing to say on a day the nation seemed to cry out for leadershiphttps://t.co/JjcIC8oxiD
The truth is that the President has “quite audibly [spoke] on this issue” on Saturday afternoon, during an address standing in solidarity with those protesting for justice while condemning the violence. The media, instead of doing their jobs, ignored President Trump’s comments like those below in favor of misleading headlines:
- PRESIDENT TRUMP: “I stand before you as a friend and ally to every American seeking justice and peace. And I stand before you in firm opposition to anyone exploiting this tragedy to loot, rob, attack, and menace. Healing, not hatred; justice, not chaos are the mission at hand.”

- PRESIDENT TRUMP: “The memory of George Floyd is being dishonored by rioters, looters, and anarchists. The violence and vandalism is being led by Antifa and other radical left-wing groups who are terrorizing the innocent, destroying jobs, hurting businesses, and burning down buildings.”

The media’s job is to accurately report what the President of the United States is saying to the nation in the middle of a crisis. The truth is that they are doing anything but that. They are actively trying to cause division instead of reporting accurately.
