The White House has commented on the ending of Title 42, a Trump-era policy that has stopped most migrants from applying for asylum in the United States. The policy is set to end next week, following a court order. The White House stated that President Biden has worked to address the issues at the border since he took office and has put forth an immigration policy to protect Dreamers, address the backlog of asylum seekers, and fix the broken immigration system.
The President has also secured record funding and added 23,000 agents at the border to protect and secure it. The White House emphasized that the President has taken the issue of border security seriously and is following the law with regard to the court’s decision to end Title 42. The White House also expressed support for the Congressional efforts to pass the Afghan Adjustment Act and urged Congress to send the legislation to the President’s desk for signature.
